Georgia. It’s one of the most ‘Southern’ states that you can find here in the United States. While Florida may certainly be more geographically South than Georgia is, the culture there is as far more ‘Northern’. Georgia is the state that evokes the legacy of the Southern Gentleman, of lemon-aid and sweet black tea. It’s everything ‘South’ within a single state and why I chose to make it my home. That and after scoring one of the Peachtree City apartments I was more than happy to stay put for a while. I’ve been waiting for one of their units to open up for sometime and I pounced on the opportunity as soon as it made itself available.
It meant that I was moving all the way from Corpus Christi to Georgia, a trip I had only made five years prior. Fortunately work is a flexible entity for me due to the vast majority of it being done on the Cloud through my company’s VPN. It’s the primary reason why I continue working with them even if they may not pay exactly what I’d like to have it’s still close enough that I can bite that bullet while retaining the ability to go wherever I like. They don’t care where I live as long as I still get the job done. I can’t ask for much more.
Don’t ask me why I wanted one of the units so badly. I don’t even know for sure. I do know that I just found them to have a really great vibe which remains true even five years later. The community itself is nice without being overly urban like you’re going to find in downtown Atlanta. Georgia is a great place to live as long as you avoid the ridiculous culture that’s spread through the ATL.
